2 a day gives you a little help on getting a film school education via Netflix. Glad I won't have to drop loads of cash on Berets and shaky, handheld camera people.
Somehow, I seemingly get roped into taking classes for one reason or another. This quarter, I'm going whole hog with 4 classes. A hearty welcome to those of you heading over from the Foothill Online course website.
What am I up to? Well, here we go:
1. Sociology - I'm taking an intro class to this topic because I've never taken this subject and figure what the heck
2. Anthropology - Ditto
3. Gym - so I can get some exercise
4. Tennis - Ditto
The first two are online classes and they're not just to indulge my curiosity. You see, if I'm enrolled in some sort of certificate program at least part time, then boom, Hongyun gets a little more cash from Berkeley. We figure, that at least I'll learn stuff and my classes and textbooks are basically free. Also, I think my curiosity in how technology directly affects individuals, families, and communities is more than just a passing one. I tend to gravitate towards to reading about studies for these sorts of things when I'm blog surfing. Anyway, it's a win-win except for my free-time where it is definitely has a not-so-good effect. Oh well...it's only three months right? What could possibly go wrong?
Aside from today's insane Apple announcement, I have been pretty much holed up and cut off from the world boning up on my high school level math. I figured out that the GMAT really doesn't require much more than this (aside from good verbal skills as well) which lead me to the realization that we should be pushing kids who just completed their first or second year of college to take the GMAT and GRE at that time since this stuff will be fresh in their minds.
Anyway, I vowed never to be rusty again snce there is a growing host of free top shelf educational materials online for free.
I would imagine that in a few years, we'll see a growing number of ultra-genius kids who push their educaiton to the limit with these free resources and earn several degrees by the time they're my age.
I've been looking for puzzles to exercise my brain....this one is a doosy: Matrix-Flip IQ Test.
I got a 134 out of 180 (sigh...no nobel prize for me).
Looks like Cal and Google have teamed up for streaming video goodness. Imagine how the world will be after a 10 year old kid with an IQ of 160 gets their hands on these...
If you search for "Academic Calendar" on the UC Berkeley website, you'll get a link that looks promising. When you actually choose the calendar to view, you'll be surprised to see that it contains only a few items like holidays, class start dates, and final exam days. How do you find out the last day to drop or withdrawl or other juicy academic tidbits? You need this rather pimped out 2006-2007 Calendar.
Big ups to the College of Letters and Science's advising department for putting together this mega list of important dates.
