I don't Mcknow about you, but I like McAdding "mc" to the Mcfront of words. I mean, it gives them a new McMeaning and a certain McAllure.
But I think the real McReason McDonalds wants the Oxford English Dictionary to remove the word McJob is they know that McPrefix cheapens something to no McEnd. Like if you were to take the word "ghetto" and turn it into "McGhetto"...worse right? Yeah, I know...spooky.
I'm a believer in good customer service, I really am. The trouble is that sometimes, I don't want good customer service RIGHT NOW. Case in point: I'm using some internal application at work and it fails. My first option is having to slog through a service request chat with some front-line dear-in-headlights dude on the other side of the planet at this very moment. It doesn't matter if this will take up 30 minutes or so of my time, I have to do this first. Ouch.
I'd think I should be able to just fire off a "hey, your thing is busted" email to the guys who can fix it and have the actual engineer who is looking into the problem get back to me with info they need from me rather than having me explain the app to the CSR and what I'm trying to do for about 20 mintues.
Anyway, just tooting the old blowoff valve...back to the conversation with my CSR from across the pond...
So you've taken this whole web 2.0 thing to heart and found that the do it yourself culture is for you. What's next? Well, you could just hack away at semi-unuseful gadgetry in your basement and reprise the role of the town basement-troll. Or you could decide to rock some elegantly designed web 2.1 and let it loose into the world. But how will look? What about your brand? "What? I need a brand still?" Yep...get your read on
People who know me well enough know that I'm a lighting junkie and here's yet another way to satisfy my inner blinkie (take that in any way you see fit).
These little doodads are basically throwable, portable lightbulbs. Luckily I happen to have bag-fulls of old LEDs kicking it at the ranch and will gleefully bust out my trusty soldering iron before month's end to construct a couple of these little widgets.
Also of note is the coolness of Instructables, an interesting (and growing) collection of user-submitted creations. These are things that should go straight into MAKE Magazine, but if they were all in there, the "mook" would become an "magcyclopedia" sized affair. Not good for your coffee table, that's for sure...
