'LOST' Notebook for ABC's LOST is a living collection of the various LOST plot lines and evidence. It seems to keep track of just about everything. There's also a blog from an over obsessed fan that chronicles the LOST numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42), their appearances in the show, and most of the theories behind them.

Last night's episode exposed quite bit about the origin of the hatch and Desmond's plight...or did it? It did reveal a nebulous reserach organization called The Hanso Foundation that setup Swan station on the island. Anyway, I'm not sure who is right...is it just an experiment to see how long someone will push a button? Or is it real? TV Squad has the list of theories going around so far. The theory around the black smoke and the "security system" invisible-dinosaur seems to be the most logical to me, but who knows.

If you've Tivo'd (or Media Center'd) Lost but have yet to watch, do not read furhter....otherwise continue.

The first two episodes of Lost's second season were really just like one long episode. Episode one focused on the hatch and finally meeting Desmond. The second episode focused more on the Michael and Sawyer post-Walt abduction and raft burning.

In episode two, we did get more information as to what 4 8 15 16 23 42 means...they all add up to 108. I'm not sure if it's 108 minutes, but It seems that Desmond needs to type in 4 8 15 16 23 42 into an old Apple II before a count down clock that starts at 108 (minutes?) hits zero. I'm pretty sure it's minutes, but when I watched the clock change "seconds" it looked a little fast for seconds.

It seems to me that Desmond believe the world is contaminated a la The Island. It seems he's been down there for some time (Apple II, record player, etc.), but then again, when you looked around the room at the beginning of the first episode, there was a brand spanking new set of a Whirpool washer and dryer. Interesting. Was it just a snafu or did it mean he had new appliances?

We also learn in next week's episode that the "Others" are finally revealed to us and that the Others have found and captured another group of passengers from the plane. While all of this is happening, the 108 is still floating around in my head...108 108 108...what does it all mean?

Catch up on last season:

I seriously can't wait for the 2nd season of LOST to begin. Those 6 numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42) has been on the minds of LOSTers for the whole summer and it's getting kinda crunky. Check it: 4 8 15 16 23 42.com. Yeah that's right, someone registered the numbers and created a forum about the show. Totally weird. Anyway, get your LOST Season 1 DVD Set (ships Sept. 6th). I know what I'm going to be doing with my next Amazon gift certificate...

Lost: Numbers - TV Tome

Last night's episode of Lost was intense and perplexing. The origin of the numbers and their significance adds yet another enigma to unravel. Or maybe it's just another clue in the same big mystery? I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the DVD set to be released in September (as it is rumored to be).

Here's some neat analysis from TV Tome about the numbers:

The Numbers
The numbers Hurley uses for his winning lottery are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. The flight number that the survivors crashed on has two of those numbers - 815.
Numbers 2
If you add all the digits of the numbers plus Hurley's worth in america ($156 mil) 4 8 1 5 1 6 2 3 4 2 1 5 6=48 which is the same number of the original survivors on the island.
More with addition and subtraction
If you add up the numbers, 4 8 15 16 23 42=108, and subtract that from Hurley's net worth (156-108=48), again, it equals the number of survivors.
