Last night we headed over to the Orpheum in San Francisco to watch Avenue Q. The show was unsurprisingly brilliant. I say unsurprisingly because I've seen a couple of video clips and heard some of the songs before hand so I knew it was going to be really good. I'll leave the spoilers out, but let's just say I don't recommend anyone bring their kid to the show.
So after the show, I thought to myself, "man, I'd really like to get the music from the show in MP3 form." So here's what I don't want:
I don't want someone to physically ship me a CD so I can rip it and then sell it off again. How globally-unPC is that?
I don't want a DRM'd version since I work for
Zing Dell and use several different media playing devices (including an iPod every now and then still).
I don't want to bittorrent it since I actually enjoyed the music and want to pay the people who created it for their awesome tunes that have brought me joy.
I don't want to buy DRM tracks, burn them to a CD-RW, then rip them again...wtf?
So there you have it. I have my money waiting in hand (actually on my Amex card) and no way to get what I want: DRM-free Avenue Q.
Nevertheless, I encourage you to go see Avenue Q...you'll like it.
