Last Day at Microsoft
Originally uploaded by titaniumtommy.
It has been almost a full month since my last post and boy, has a lot changed. Little did I realize a month ago the chaos that would erupt at work and the new opportunities that would open to me.

Anyway, I'm not leaving Microsoft because of the workload as of late (it has been about as hectic as it can get) or any sort of internal or political conflict. On the contrary, I tend to not be too worried about the politics of work and focus on the problem at hand. The real reason I'm leaving is because the opportunities that are open to me give me a chance to grow my life experiences and thereby my career with greater speed than if I had stayed put. It really was tough choice as Microsoft I really a remarkable place to work. It has some the brightests and most ambitious people I've met to date in my life. The people at Microsoft really do strive for excellence and really mean it when they say, "we want to change the world for the better."

At any rate, my current plan is to veg for one weekend, catch up on family stuff (upload photos, clean up websites, make some tshirt images, buy some tennis rackets for my new year's resolution, install my bike rack on the ol' Escape--also a new year's resolution, catch a movie, and perhaps throw a barbeque or two for some new friends Hongyun has made) then get into GMAT intensive cramming. I figure two 3.5 hour sessions of study per day for 2 days then one day of light work/reading other topics (something like dwell mag, the economist, and businessweek...now that's good reading).

SlaveMaster@microsoft:

Hey tommy,

sorry the last few weeks and particularly the last few days were so tougth at work. I whish your last week had been slower so you could enjoy it more, but I am sure you understand the urgency. The fact you gave it your max up until the last minute tells a lot about your character, and that's why we'll all miss you!

I whish you a lot of success and happiness to you, your wife and the bunnies (still not too late have a feast... we love "lapin a la moutarde"), I have no doubt you'll do well in everything you do.

Don't be a stranger, let's go Lee's for lunch when you get back down Mtn View.

Cheers!
