Hongyun and I have been taking some weekend clay classes at De Anza college. She's doing the class to further her art education, while I'm just there to play with clay. Today, we did Raku firing with involves opening the kiln while it's still hot and removing the piece while it's still bright red. Then you put it in a sand pit filled with newspaper and cover it. The result is a cool black color on the clay and some intensely bright and metallic colors. Check out the clay class photos.
