Bloglet broken? :: home :: From Master System To Genesis
Canada? Yes, that's right Canada. REVERIE SOUND REVUE out of Canada has all but fallen off the face of the map, but they were featured in the Toronto Star's Anti-Hit List Podcast (what can I say? I'm eclectic) a couple of weeks ago and they've been stuck in my brain ever since. So what do they do? They construct righteous alterna-pop with dreamy guitars and vocals that just seem to float around in the sky just above your head. They really should make the next Diet-Coke commercial song.
Try going to the New Music Canda site and listen to their songs that are posted there (especially "Walking Around Waiting Downtown") to fall in love with music again. I tried going to their now defunct website only to be disappointed. They have a CD for sale through the NMC site's link and it's only $10CN. For now though, I'm going to just keep the streaming window open and enjoy the poppy-goodness.
UPDATE: I just got an email from Maxx at Megatunes that my order has been processed and will be shipped out this week! Finally, after an Internet-eternity, my dreams of having my very own Reverie Sound Revue CD will finally come true. Pop On...

Actually according to their myspace, they decided to reform in September of 05'. I believe they are recording now and ofcourse, won't be finishing anytime soon since Lisa is on the road with BSS. Can't wait to see them on Nov 1st^^. But the cd is supposed to hit stores prob sometime next year. Can't wait, RSR is just plain incredible.

It's a shame that RSR broke up. I heard One Marathon on the show Radio Free Roscoe and I've been hooked ever since. That is my new favorite song. But does anyone know where I can get lyrics the their songs? I plan on downloading the rest of their stuff and hoping to love it.

RSR is incredible! I saw Lisa with BSS last month here in LA and she was wicked. I've been spreading the word down here ever since I arrived and I'm certainly not alone in my obsession anymore. I'm going to buy out Megatunes entire stock when I'm home this X-Mas. If anyone has any info on the band at all, please drop me a line.

If anyone's still wondering what happened to Reverie Sound Revue still, well, I will tell you!
Their singer, Lisa Lobsinger, is currently touring with Broken Social Scene. I don't know if she's a full-time member now, or what. But at least for this tour, she's filling in for Leslie Feist while she's off doing her own tour.
I saw her about a month ago at a BSS show in Edmonton, and she was really great! Apparently it was her first show with BSS, so I'm guessing Reverie Sound Revue will be taking some more time off at least until this tour is done.

I love Reverie Sound Revue way too much. It's hard to download their songs but I've managed to get about 10. I'm not sure if this is a Canadian site, so I will note that is legal here. And yes, One Marathon is the only reason to live.

Reverie Sound Revue is by far one of my favourite bands. I too have been waiting a while for the CD to come. It was supossed to come on the 9th of August for me, but now its September. I guess I just have to wait.

Thanks for the songs! I've been waiting for the CD for a couple of weeks now...it seems that Mega tunes ran out and the band is burning some now. Btw, most of the song links on your site are busted, but I got a few down. Thanks for the great info...too bad they've broken up, they could have hit it big!

If you're interested, I can get you some more RSR songs, including ones that aren't on the CD. Don't get me wrong, I'd still recommend the CD, but I'm always happy to pass along mp3's of this wonderful band. And trust me, you haven't lived until you've heard "One Marathon."
