* We don't buy shoes at WalMart *
comments

Last weekend, in our bid to get ready for our upcoming first-ever-Hawaii extravaganza, we went to WalMart looking for cheap stuff. We ended up buying a couple pairs of cheap sandals and a few other knick-knacks that should prove to be useful for the trip. My favorite item from the WalMart trip are the Homer Sandals that I picked up. They're not for outdoor use (I know some poor soul is going to try, but I don't recommend it), but are meant to be shower shoes for use at Club One. Hey what do you want for 2 bucks and change? I got another pair that I thought would be my primary pair of sandals for Hawaii (only 7 bucks!!), but when Hongyun and I went for a spin in our new feet-related duds, the seemingly comfortable 7 buck WalMart wonder-of-Asian-slave-labor sandals were too uncomfortable to bear. I should have known better. I mean 7 bucks. They probably didn't even have anyone design them. Just eyeballed an oval of rubber and slapped some of the most chafing straps they could find.

In the end I learned: WalMart still sucks...this is the 2nd chance I've given them in 5 years and it still couldn't hold a candle to Target.com, I still can't stand bargain shoes (I've never really recovered from the Payless Shoes which I'd completely destory two weeks after my mom would buy them for me). Remember, footwear is important...buy good stuff (more on that later).
