I'm in the process of "re-envisioning" (man I'm been at MSFT a long time) my home media mix. Currently, I've cancelled digital cable (who needs to drop a grand a year for TV?), in process of building an Media Center PC at work (since I have Standard Cable in my office), and building a server to bring the stuff home. Here's what I envision:

1) Dual Tuner Media Center records my shows on cable feed at work
2) Server at home auto syncs content from work Media Center box to home
3) I come home in the evening, enjoy (not to mention my 2 home Tivos).

Total price:
One time cost for dual tuner PCI card: ~$120
MCE software: Free (benefit of being a MSFTie)
Possibly an new PC at home: ~$500
Large HD(s) for home: ~$250
Monthlies (Limited Basic Cable & Tivo service): ~$35/month

I may drop the Tivos all together assuming the setup works well enough. Too bad I have really old and sucky TVs at home. Maybe I'll start a "HDTV 2006" fund with all the cash I don't drop off at the Comcast Cable office every month...Booya!
