In her new album '0304', Jewel sets out to prove that she can sell out with the best of them. I downloaded a few of the songs off of the album and they sounded like they were factory-fresh songs for Britney Spears. I mean, Britney takes a "hiatus" (read: her first of many trips to the Betty Ford clinic) and Jewel flips from new age alternachick to country queen and bam..she's as pink as HubbaBubba bubble gum pop. At least Britney didn't even bother with the "I'm an intelligent song writer" phase...she went straight to such engaging lyricss as "Hit Me Baby...One More Time" and "Oops I Did It Again." Then you have Christina Aguilera...otherwise known as "the one who outdoes Britney by showing it all off and not making us wait 5 years for Playboy." This girl has some pipes and great underwear selection but has gone a little too much of the Dirrrty deep-end. At anyrate, looks like BubbleGum is the flavor of music for the forseeable future. Don't be surprise to see the N'Street OTown Guys coming out of the woodwork soon to combat the barrage of digitally-enhanced vocals coming out of the girl's camp.
