Man I'm gettin' slow. I mean we've been back for 3 days or so and I'm just getting to post about our Big Sur this past weekend. I guess the sheen of the blogging life is wearing down. I used to post almost hourly but now it's down to a few burst of posts every few days. I bet if I finally got a few days and the inspiration to redesign, it'd be like falling in love all over again...
Click above for photos. Funny tidbits about camping:
Squirrel got into the tent and ate all of the Macadamia nuts, part of a Fuji apple, and 2 hot dog buns. I caught him red handed when we came back from a walk when I opened the tent to get some food out for our BBQ. When I unzipped the tent, the Squirrel and I looked at each other eye to eye and he bolted for the other side of the tent. I started shaking the tent and eventually he found the door and zoomed out of there with lots of food in his squirrely little squirrel mouth.
Almost froze to death on the first night because the tent was hot when we fell asleep so I didn't close my sleeping bag...big mistake. I woke in pitch darkness, freezing my ass off, having to get dressed and go outside to take a leak...talk about your hell freezing over...
Anyway, the trip was great. We did a few of the hiking trails around Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. We saw the waterfall which was a pretty easy hike. Then we trekked to the top of the valley to see a sweet view. This hike was a little more involved and got tough near the end but in the end it was worth the vista point.
We also went to Monterey and did the 17 Mile Drive. Now there are some big ass homes. The views are unbelievable as well.
Anyway, coming back to real life was not so great. I've been to Costco 3 times and I stilll haven't gotten all of my photos back yet. According to their photo kiosk...you drop off the film Sunday and it comes back on Tuesday. Sweet! So we fill out the envelopes and load our freshly exposed film from camping and that was that. Came back on Tuesday, shuffled through the film packs...nada. Hmmm...but the kiosk said Sunday->Tuesday. Give the photo processing folks a call...It said Wednesday. Doh! Fine. Go back Wednesday at 2pm...nada. WTF?? Talk to one of the photo guys...film comes out at 4pm. Ohh!!! 4pm....now you tell me. Come back at 8:30pm. Cool! Found 2 of our 3 rolls. Checked again. 3rd roll is MIA. Hmmmm...call photo processing again. "Your film will be delivered Wednesday" said the automated lady on the other end. Hmmm....go home extremely frustrated. Called this morning and lo and behold the message said it is going to be delivered today! Ack!! Yet another trip to Costco to pickup my film. Well, no need to tell you that Costco has joined my shit list of companies of which Fedex is the founding member. No more photo finishing at Costco. Saving the extra buck or two is just not worth the 4 trips to get your film.
The cool part is my sister just got her first job working as a 1 hour photo person at Target! Yay Tammo! So now, we'll good deals on photo finishing. Costco, kiss my picture-taking behind!
