Lomo LC-A Manual in English :: home :: Matrix: Reloaded
While working on the Sparrow yesterday, I got the usual gawkers and people who stopped to ask questions. One guy drove up in his 8 cylinder Ford Mustang and started asking questions.
Dumbass in Mustang: Hey, that's a cool car. How much is it?
Me: They're not made any more. Mine is not for sale.
Dumbass in Mustang: How much did you pay?
Me: Enough.
Dumbass in Mustang: Is it solar or something?
Me: No it has 8 cylinders just like your lame ass gas guzzling crapmobile
If you drive anything that is more than 6 cyliders, please do not bother to stop and ask me questions about the Sparrow. Please take your gas guzzling piece of crap and drive it to the junk yard.
In related news, here's a cool site about hybrid drive systems: John's Stuff - Toyota Prius - Hybrid Types.
It looks like Ginger and I are settling on 4 cars as the front-runner choices for our next car:
2004 Prius because it is neat, is available with navigation, gets 60mpg, and is a PZEV (better than SULEV).
2004 Mini Cooper (non-S) also because it is tiny and is easy to park, and is available with navigation. It's a little out of our price range but we may stretch a bit.
2004 Honda Element EX 2WD because it's roomy, is an LEV, gets 31mpg, has iPod-input for the stereo system. No navigation available though..doh!
2004 Echo because it gets 38mpg and is dirt cheap.
We're going to trade our Acura RSX Type S in and get one of the above cars. I really want one of the new 350Z (copper with copper leather interior) but no way we can afford something like that in the near future.

Actually I do use public transit. I use the Caltrain to get to work most of the time. My wife drives the Sparrow. I usually walk or bike to the Caltrain station from my home. If I have too much stuff to carry, then I take my Think Neighbor which is an NEV. I'm trying to get my workplace to switch to an alternative fuel or EV shuttle bus from the Mountain View Caltrain Station to the office. Caltrain is great but it still runs on diesel fuel. I wish it were totally electric or even solar (you can put solar panels in between the tracks all along the route).
At any rate, I do make assumptions about people when they drive a two seater with 8 cylinders. I try to educate people at every turn about EV's and public transportation. But when a person chooses to purchase a car that is built to just burn gasoline and run you into a wall faster than you'd care, I just find that completely stupid. I may be rude, but I don't consider that ignorant. One more thing, if you'd like to discuss something with me, please leave your email address. I don't spam people and don't enjoy flame wars, but it's rather cowardly to accuse me of ignorance and to defend a gas guzzling V8 Mustang and not leave an email address where I can send a rebuttal.

I think your comments about the guy in the Mustang are rude and ignorant. You should try to educate people about alternative fuels instead of jumping to conclusions their intentions or what they're like as people. If you're so hardline about clean automobiles, why not just use public transit and give up cars altogether?
