I too have a Venture Line Furniture model stereo egg pod alpha chair... whatever ya want to call it.

There is some wear and tear from all the years of fun and living with them, but they still look cool and groovy.

I actually own the entire set of 3 - there is the one stereo chair and its matching 2 other chairs plus the ottoman.

I have been searching and searching in hopes of finding the value. I do not really want to sell them, but still interested in their value, cuz for the right price... i may consider it.

I actually would rather rent them out for movie set use than sell them, but don't know what blog or forum or website might have knowledge of where or how to advertise for that.

This is the first site I have ever seen that even has a picture of one of these. So someone else owns one...someone named Pete.

Anyway would love to hear from someone if you have an idea of their value.

I have an Alpha Chamber Egg Chair for sale. This is an original from 1972, made by Lee Company. I bought it new and it is in excellent condition. It has a white exterior, blue interior and black vinyl seat pads. It also has the ottoman. I updated the speakers last year, but still have the originals. I also have an original egg-shaped stereo chair, "Alpha Chamber". It does not currently have the speakers installed. Its exterior is white and the interior is brown with the original black vinyl cushions. I do not have the ottoman. I have an original egg-shaped stereo chair. It has speakers on the inside. Its blue in color on the outside and gold/black material and has a ottoman with it. It is in fair condition. I have 2 Ovalia chairs which I may (if the price is right) be interested in selling: one is black with white interior (as per the Men In Black movie) and the othe ris the inverse i.e. white with a black interior. Their condition is pretty good (a few small exterior scratches are their only defects) and in fact the white interior chair has just been renovated - it took a VERY long time to find a competent upholsterer of 60s antiques in the UK but the result has been good.

if your a handy man or know someone who is why not make your own ball chair. just get a huge beach ball, and mold fiberglass around it. dont forget to leave holes at the bottom for a stand. the stand can be made out of wood. you can paint it what ever color you like and choose any fabric. you can also fabricate speakers into it.ha,ha,ha.good luck.

I have the Ovalia egg chair you're looking for. I bought it in Jan. 17, 1976. It's white outside, with orange goat leather inside the shell. The "sitting parts" are made of black goat leather. It has two loudspeakers. Total height is 130 cm. There were many different colour combinations to choose between when I bought it back in 1976. With leather or cloth inside and even with cloth outside(!).
I'm living in Malmö (south of Sweden near the bridge from Copenhagen, Denmark), just a few miles from the place, Staffanstorp, where they manufactured Ovalia in the 60's and 70's (the first came in 1968). The designer, Henrik Thor-Larsen, was born in Denmark but lived here in Sweden and I think he still does. He was born in 1932 and he is still alive, I know that much. Our local newspaper interviewed him 1-2 years ago when the movie "Men in Black" came. They were sitting in a Ovalia-looking chair. He thought it was an illegal copy................... At least I know mine is original!! I also still have the receipt from the retailer!

I have an 'Ovalia' chair, designed by Thor Larsen which I purchased in 1971. I believe that it was one of two chairs sent to a furniture exhibition in London some time between 1968 and 1971. I added speakers and a reading light but the speaker quality is not good. The cushions are original but have lost some studding buttons. The internal lining could really due with replacing. The fibre glass is escellent with one small scuff mark where it has rubbed against a wall. I am interested in selling this as it no longer fits with our decor but would like some idea of its value before I get serious.

We have an Alpha Chamber Egg Chair for sale. This is an original from the 1960s, made by Lee Company and designed by Thor Larsen. It is in excellent condition overall with several surface scuff marks but no chips, cracks or repairs. The vinyl cushion is missing one button but has no rips or repairs. The cushions which line the chair are all in excellent condtion, no rips or repairs.
The speakers are in working condition.
Photo available upon request. We are planning to list this chair on eBay unless we get a good offer.
We understand that the value starts at $2000 for an authentic original, such as this one. There is no ottoman. We know there are repros for sale for $1700.
