Did you know that it costs over 600 American Dollars to register a pet in China? Then it's about 120 American Dollars every year after that. I find that amazing since the average income is about 100 to 200 American Dollars every month. Imagine spending 3 months income to register your dog!

Every year to two years, the police will crack down on unlicensed animals (basically 99% of all domestic pets) and confiscate them for destruction unless the owner of the animal pay to register their pet. For most people this is just not feasible. So what happens? Everyone sends their pets to the countryside where the police have little presence and the animals turn into refugees.

I'm not sure why this is, but I would think it is reasonable if the police or government actually wanted people to register their pets, that they should lower the price of registration and allow more people to register. That way, almost all pets will be registered and they will make their money. Not only that, but they won't have to send the police to terrorize the general public and try to take pets away from their families. You would think this is basic common sense...
